Dodgers' Greinke undergoes 90-minute surgery on collarbone

PHOENIX - Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Zack Greinke underwent a 90-minute operation Saturday to repair a broken left collarbone, an injury he sustained in a benches-clearing brawl against the San Diego Padres.

The Dodgers said in a statement that a metal plate was inserted to stabilize the broken bone. The surgery was performed by doctors John Itamurra and Neal ElAttrache at White Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles.

Greinke is expected to return to play in eight weeks.

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly announced Saturday that left-hander Chris Capuano will take Greinke's scheduled start on Tuesday against San Diego in Los Angeles.
