NEW YORK, N.Y. - CC Sabathia pitched a three-hitter and struck out 10 leading New York to a 6-3 victory Friday night that stopped Seattle's seven-game winning streak.

Eric Chavez hit a two-run homer and Curtis Granderson had a two-run single off Kevin Millwood (4-9), sending the AL East leaders to their second consecutive win following a 3-9 slide.

Sabathia (11-3) improved to 8-0 with a 1.20 ERA in his past eight starts against the Mariners.

Going into the ninth, Sabathia had given up only Casper Wells' solo homer with one out in the fourth and Miguel Olivo's eighth-inning double. He walked Brendan Ryan to start the inning before Dustin Ackley drove his eighth homer deep into the seats in right.

Ichiro Suzuki started a rally against his former team and the Yankees helped Sabathia improve to 4-0 in his last seven outings.

Last in the AL West, the Mariners had won 13 of 17 and were trying for their first eight-game winning streak in five years. They began a nine-game trip that also takes them to Baltimore and Los Angeles.

Eric Chavez became the ninth Yankee with at least 10 homers this season — one shy of the club record set in 1998.

ATHLETICS 5, BLUE JAYS 4, 15 innings

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Jemile Weeks hit a 15th-inning triple and Coco Crisp drove him home on a sacrifice fly as the Oakland Athletics secured a marathon 5-4 win over the Toronto Blue Jays.

Weeks was also a star Monday night, when his sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 15th beat Tampa Bay. The A's became the first team to play two 15-inning games in a five-day span since the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2006.

Oakland was up 4-1 and one out away from clinching the win in the top of the ninth, but Toronto's Jeff Mathis blasted a three-run homer to tie the game.

Travis Blackley (3-3) secured the win for the A's while Aaron Loup (0-2) took the loss for the Blue Jays.

Oakland's Dan Straily allowed one run and five hits over six innings in his MLB debut. Toronto starter Brett Cecil lasted only five innings, conceding four runs on nine hits.

RAYS 2, ORIOLES 0

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — B.J. Upton joined elite company by hitting his 100th career homer for Tampa Bay.

Upton put the Rays ahead 1-0 with a fourth-inning homer off Tommy Hunter (4-7). Upton joins Rickey Henderson, Barry Bonds, Bobby Bonds, Cesar Cedeno, Lloyd Moseby, Eric Davis and Hanley Ramirez as the only players to amass 100 homers and 200 steals before age 28.

Upton turns 28 on Aug. 21. His brother, Arizona's Justin Upton, hit his 100th career homer earlier in the night at Philadelphia.

Tampa Bay's Matt Moore (8-7) improved to 7-2 in his past 11 starts after giving up six hits over 5 1-3 innings. Fernando Rodney, the fourth Rays' reliever, pitched the ninth for his 32nd save.

Desmond Jennings made it 2-0 on a solo shot in the sixth. Hunter, who has given up 26 homers this season, allowed two runs and six hits over 5 2-3 innings.

TIGERS 10, INDIANS 2

DETROIT (AP) — Prince Fielder homered and drove in four runs, helping Anibal Sanchez win for the first time with Detroit.

Fielder also hit a two-run double. Sanchez (1-1) allowed one earned run in six-plus innings. The right-hander was acquired in a July 23 trade with Miami.

The Indians, who designated outfielder Johnny Damon for assignment before the game, lost their seventh straight. Justin Masterson (7-10) allowed seven runs and 10 hits in four innings. He walked four and struck out four.

Fielder and Miguel Cabrera had three hits each for Detroit.

Fielder's double in the third inning went off the wall in right-centre and gave Detroit a 3-1 lead. The Tigers broke the game open with four runs in the fourth.

TWINS 6, RED SOX 5, 10 innings

BOSTON (AP) — Minnesota's Jamey Carroll had four hits, including a go-ahead single in the 10th.

Carroll and Justin Morneau both went 4-for-4 — Morneau doubled twice and Carroll once.

Darin Mastroianni led off the 10th with a double. After third baseman Will Middlebrooks made a spectacular diving catch on a foul ball by Brian Dozier, Carroll singled off Vicente Padilla (4-1).

The Twins overcame an early 5-1 deficit and defeated the Red Sox for the second straight night.

Jeff Gray (6-1) pitched 1 1-3 innings for the win. Jared Burton picked up his fourth save in six chances.

Carl Crawford homered, doubled, singled and drove in three runs for the Red Sox.

Twins starter Brian Duensing went six innings and gave up five runs, only two earned. The Twins bullpen didn't allow a run over the final four innings.

Red Sox starter Felix Doubront couldn't hold a 5-1 lead. He went five innings and allowed five runs and eight hits.

RANGERS 5, ROYALS 3

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Matt Harrison gave the beleaguered Texas pitching staff a strong start and Mitch Moreland hit a three-run homer.

The Rangers starters had allowed at least six runs in the previous four games, but Harrison (13-6) held the Royals to two runs and eight hits in 6 2-3 innings. Harrison, who went 1-3 in July, walked three and struck out three, departing after 109 pitches.

Moreland's home run in the seventh came off Royals lefty reliever Jose Mijares, who had not yielded a home run to a left-handed hitter this season.

Jeremy Guthrie (3-11) held the Rangers to three runs and six hits over six-plus innings. He is winless in three Kansas City starts since being acquired in a July 20 trade with Colorado.

Alexi Ogando worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his second save in five opportunities.

WHITE SOX 8, ANGELS 6

CHICAGO (AP) — Alex Rios hit his second homer of the game, a two-run shot in the 10th inning, to lift Chicago.

Rios also hit a solo homer as the White Sox won their third straight. The Angels lost their third straight, with starter Zack Greinke roughed up in his second start for his new team.

Adam Dunn singled off Hisanori Takahashi (0-3) to open the 10th. Pinch-runner Jordan Danks stole second with one out before Rios hit his 18th home run.

Matt Thornton (4-6) pitched a scoreless 10th.

A.J. Pierzynski's three-run homer highlighted a four-run first for Chicago. Greinke allowed six runs and 10 hits over seven innings.

Albert Pujols and Mike Trout homered for the Angels.
