Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista placed on 15-day disabled list with wrist injury

Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista placed on 15-day disabled list with wrist injury

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Toronto Blue Jays placed outfielder Jose Bautista on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with inflammation in his left wrist and promoted outfielder Anthony Gose from triple-A Las Vegas.

Bautista suffered the injury in the eighth inning of Monday night's 6-3 loss to the New York Yankees. The 31-year-old slugger doubled over in pain after fouling off a pitch and left the game.

Bautista is tied for second in the American League with 27 home runs and tied for third in RBIs with 65.

Gose is a top prospect who has spent the 2012 season in triple-A, batting .292 with 18 doubles, 10 triples, five home runs and 41 RBIs.

The 21-year-old, who is set to make his major-league debut, leads the Pacific Coast League in stolen bases with 29 and is third in runs scored with 77.

Gose was acquired from the Houston Astros in July 2010 in exchange for first baseman Brett Wallace.

To make room on the 40-man roster for Gose, the Blue Jays transferred right-hander Brandon Morrow to the 60-day disabled list.
