Bass Coast raises more than $20,000 to help with Merritt flood recovery

After severe flooding wreaked havoc in Merritt late last year, the organizers of the Bass Coast Music Festival reached out to their community of festival-goers to ask for help.

Bass Coast organizers launched a Gofundme in November, kicking it off with a $5,000 donation of their own, and initially set a goal to raise $15,000. That goal was reached in under 24 hours, and ultimately a total of $21,110 was raised by 201 people.

“Together we can help residents of Merritt and Indigenous communities in the surrounding area recover from floods,” reads the Gofundme page. Donations can still be collected through the online fundraiser's link.

Bass Coast is a multi-day music and arts festival that showcases mostly electronic music. It is held on the same grounds as the Rockin' River Country Music Festival.

It will be held this year from July 8 to 11.
