Caravan Farm Theatre in Armstrong will have a famous musician making an appearance at an upcoming country barn dance benefit concert.
Veteran folk and country singer Barney Bentall is performing in the theatre’s Timber Barn on Aug. 16 in support of their 2025 season.
He’ll be performing alongside his son Dustin Bentall and Dustin’s partner Trixie Bentall who is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and record producer, according to the theatre's media release issued Aug. 5.
“The Bentalls have been tremendous supporters over the years, and we are honoured that they are making a pitstop at Caravan Farm Theatre on their cross-country tour,” artistic director Estelle Shook said in the release.
Bentall became nationally famous fronting The Legendary Hearts in 1988, and is known for famous hits including Something to Live For and Come Back to Me.
Barney Bentall and Friends are performing a 75 to 90 minute set that will end with an old-fashioned barn dance. Locally made food and drinks will be on offer including Helmuts BBQ smokies, Okanagan peach pie, and local ales and craft cocktails.
“I encourage everyone to dress up in their best western swag and come kick up their heels – it’s been a beautiful Okanagan summer so far – let’s celebrate,” Shook said.
All funds raised will support the activities of Caravan Farm Theatre, a decades-old professional outdoor theatre company based on an 80-acre farm in the North Okanagan that's popular for its interactive productions.
Gates for the show at 4886 Salmon River Road open at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 16.
