Ballet Kelowna tip-toes past financial setback

Despite announcements last month Ballet Kelowna would be closing its doors, things are suddenly looking up for the dance school. Under the guidance of a new board of directors the 2013-14 artistic season is going ahead.

Ballerinas graced the Kelowna Community Theatre stage last night for the benefit concert Dancing with Friends.

Initially the school expected it would have to end their dance season lacking funds to go forward. However, the new directors say the school is not in debt and shows potential to get back in business. But support from the community is needed.

“Tomorrow’s benefit concert is a sign of that support and the tangible efforts people are willing to make to help us overcome the hurdles,” says the Board’s new President, Deborah Ward. “We realize there is a place in Kelowna – in fact in the Okanagan and in B.C."
