Forklift trucks with damaged sidewalls and bald tires were some of the violations that netted a Kamloops steel fabricator a more than $7,000 WorkSafeBC fine.
According to a recently published Dec. 10 WorkSafeBC penalty notice, International Steel Fabrications was fined $7,032 after inspectors visited the site and found multiple issues.
"WorkSafeBC issued several stop-use orders, including one for a hydraulic platform scissor lift leaking fluid, lifting equipment missing proper documentation, and lift trucks with damaged sidewalls and bald tires," the WorkSafeBC penalty notice said.
"The firm failed to ensure mobile equipment was inspected before operating, and that mobile equipment used for lifting or hoisting was labelled with a rated load."

The notice also said the company didn't ensure that forklift trucks were inspected and maintained according to safety standards and "failed to remedy any workplace conditions hazardous to the health or safety of its workers."
No other information is given in the penalty notice.
