KELOWNA – A chapel, a hair salon and a dog grooming business are out thousands of dollars after two overnight thefts last week.

A media release from RCMP Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says officers were at 164 Rutland Road North at 11 a.m. Jan. 16 for a report of a break and enter of the commercial business.

“RCMP attended the scene to meet with their complainant, and discovered that entry had been gained, through the drywall, into the adjoining (The Redeemed Christian Church of God) Christ Chapel,” he says.

Once inside the culprit or culprits stole microphones, a keyboard piano, a flat screen television and a digital console.

“The loss of these items has had a significant affect on the chapel’s ability to fully operate,” O’Donaghey says.

The next morning, staff arrived to find they had been hit again.

“Evidence at the scene suggests that the suspect or suspects once again gained access to the RCCG Christ Chapel, then forced entry into the neighbouring hair salon and dog grooming businesses in the same manner.”

He says the two incidents cost those businesses “thousands of dollars in loss and damages.”

“Forensic investigators, with Kelowna RCMP Integrated Forensic Identification Services, have examined the scene, the results of that examination remain part of the ongoing police investigation,” O’Donaghey says.
