Ashcroft RCMP need help in an armed robbery investigation

The Ashcroft RCMP is asking for information about an early morning armed robbery along Highway 97C.

Police say that around 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 30 they were called to a report of a robbery at the brake check on Highway 97C in Ashcroft.

"A male victim, driving a blue 1998 Dodge Dakota, told police that a large truck almost ran him off the road," RCMP said in a press release.

"When the man stopped at the brake check at the top of the Highway 97C hill, the suspect vehicle allegedly turned around and return to where he had stopped. The suspect vehicle had a large light bar that blinded the man and two unidentified males exited the truck with a long firearm. The victim was allegedly ordered out of his vehicle at gunpoint and told to lie face down on the ground."

The suspects then stole a series of items from the man’s car, RCMP said, including a large duffle bag from the back seat before they left the scene.

Ashcroft RCMP is investigating and currently need any information that could assist with their investigation. If you have information about the larger truck with a light bar, were in the area around the time of the incident or if you have dashcam footage that may help, you are asked to please call the Ashcroft RCMP at 250-453-2216 or Crime Stoppers at1-800-222-TIPS.
