NEW DELHI - Police say a Danish tourist has reported being gang raped in broad daylight near a popular central shopping area in New Delhi.

Police Spokesman Rajan Bhagat said the 51-year-old woman was lost and asked a group of men for directions. He said the men lured her away and allegedly gang-raped and robbed her Tuesday.

Amit Bahl, who owns the hotel where the woman was staying, said he called the police and the Danish Embassy on Tuesday evening after the woman returned to the hotel.

Bhagat said no arrests had been made.

A deadly gang rape in New Delhi in December 2012 has sparked widespread outrage over chronic sexual violence in India and government failures to protect women.
