LAKE COUNTRY - Police are looking for witnesses of an overnight trailer fire that is believed to be arson.

Members of the Lake Country RCMP responded to a report of a fire Sept. 4 just after 9:10 p.m. in the 14800 block of Pelmewash Parkway. When the police arrived, the Lake Country Fire Department was already on scene working to extinguish a trailer fully engulfed in flames. The property owner was out of town at the time and no injuries were reported.

Police said that the evidence gathered reveals that the fire was caused by arson and not a random act. The Lake Country General Investigation Section has taken control of the file and is working with firefighters to determine what led to the fire. Investigators will be on the scene for the next few days canvassing for video and seeking witnesses.

"A black SUV was seen fleeing the area at the time of the fire," Cpl. Meghan Foster of the Kelowna RCMP said in a press release. “Investigators are working to identify this vehicle and the driver, anyone with information is asked to contact police.”

Anyone with any information can also contact the Lake Country RCMP at 250-766-2288 or remain completely anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or by leaving a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net.
