Arrest made in Kelowna bank robbery

A suspect has been charged with robbing a Bank of Montreal last week.

KELOWNA – An arrest was made over the weekend in connection with a robbery at a Bank of Montreal in Kelowna two days before Christmas.

Tayler Verhaegen, 23, has been charged with one count of robbery.

RCMP Const. Kris Clark says the arrest was made after a man stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the Capri Mall Bank of Montreal on Tuesday, Dec. 23.

Verhaegen is accused of using a plastic strap to tie shut the front doors, jumping over the counter and demanding money.

According to court services online, Verhaegen has no prior convictions and is being held in custody.
