A 29-year-old Kamloops man was arrested this morning in relation to a homicide at the Howard Johnson Motel in 2021.

Earlier today, Dec. 3, Lukas Wade Anderson was arrested and charged with manslaughter with a firearm, according to an RCMP press release.

The investigation started the evening of Feb. 13, 2021, when a police responded to a report of shots fired at the motel, and where they found a man in his 20s dead.

“This was a lengthy investigation that involved police officers from almost every uniformed and plain clothes section within the Kamloops RCMP detachment,” said Sgt. Nestor Baird from the Serious Crimes Unit.

“And after reviewing the evidence that was uncovered, the B.C. Prosecution Service has approved charges related to what transpired that night in the motel room.”

Two days after the death in 2021, when the RCMP were appealing to witnesses, officers described the homicide as targeted and related to the drug trade.
