VERNON - Just FYI: An unlocked compound is not an invitation to mosey inside and borrow a motorhome for some father-son bonding over a drink.
A security company thought it was suspicious that the two men were drinking in the motorhome around 9:50 p.m. Saturday, June 14 and called police thinking it was a break and enter in the 4200 block of 30 Street, not far from the Vernon RCMP detachment.
Spokesperson Gord Molendyk says it wasn't quite that bad. They arrested a father and son, but determined it was more nuisance than crime.
"It turns out the two men said the gate was open as was the motor home and they just went in as they thought it was a good place to have a drink," Molendyk said.
There was no damage to the motor home. The two men, aged 60 and 24, both from Vernon, were released after they sobered up.
