Another big dump of snow appears headed our way

Winter isn't quite done with us yet.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement this morning, Feb. 16, for most of the B.C. Interior including all major mountain passes, the Shuswap, Okanagan and South Thompson. It's advising a weather system could drop 10 to 20 cms of snow or more before bringing some cold temperatures and strong winds Sunday.

A strong Pacific low pressure system will move eastward across Washington State on Saturday, the alert says. Then a fresh blast of Arctic air will arrive Saturday night bringing strong winds and areas of blowing snow.

Cold, dry weather and generally light winds are in store for early next week.

If this materializes as expected, Environment Canada will typically upgrade a special weather statement to a weather watch or even a warning.
