Alleged Kelowna gas station robber charged

RCMP arrested a West Kelowna man for robbery.

KELOWNA – An 18-year-old West Kelowna man faces criminal charges following an alleged gas station robbery with a fake firearm.

Kelowna RCMP received a report on July 15, 2019, at 9:37 p.m., of an armed robbery that had just been committed at the Husky gas station located in the 1500 block of Harvey Avenue. Police learned that a man entered the business and brandished a firearm, later determined to be a realistic imitation, before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash and tobacco products.

Officers responding to the scene spotted the man matching the suspect's description.

“That suspect attempted to evade our officers on foot,” Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said in a press release. “He was taken into police custody without incident, along Dickson Avenue, not far from the scene of the alleged armed robbery.”

Employees of the business were not harmed during the incident. Dylan Milligan of West Kelowna has been formally charged with robbery and disguise face with intent to commit an offence.

Milligan is expected to appear in court next on July 18 at 9 a.m.
