Alberta man drowns in Okanagan Lake near Penticton

The Penticton RCMP and B.C. Coroners Service are investigating after a 61-year-old man drowned in Okanagan Lake last week.

On Aug. 11, 2020 at roughly 2:30 p.m. at Okanagan Lake Beach in Penticton, witnesses saw a man lose consciousness while swimming in the lake and immediately brought him to the shore where they performed CPR, according to the RCMP in a news release.

Once on scene, emergency crews continued life-saving efforts while he was transported to the hospital. The man, from Alberta, died in the hospital.

The B.C. Coroners Service is also investigating the man’s death. Neither organization will be releasing or confirming identity and no additional information will be released at this time, according to the RCMP.
