Alberta child abduction investigation reaches positive resolution in Salmon Arm

Salmon Arm Mounties were able to put a possible abduction case to a swift and safe end this week.

They were told to keep an eye out for a vehicle coming from Chase Detachment's area after previously being in Barrier.

The woman driving it was associated with a 14-year-old who was subject of an abduction file in Alberta, according to a press release sent out by Staff Sgt. Scott West from the Salmon Arm detachment today, May 31.

"Officers located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop in Salmon Arm," West said in the release.

As a result of the traffic stop, the officers located the girl who appeared to be safe at the time.

The officers placed her in the care of the BC Ministry of Children and Families and the driver, a 25-year-old Alberta woman, was taken into custody and released on a promise to appear in court in Alberta.
