Fire at fuel station at Nigeria's Kano airport injures 2

KANO, Nigeria - Witnesses say a fire has erupted at the fuel station at the airport in Nigeria's northern city of Kano.

A security guard confirmed Wednesday's fire, and a witness says two technicians who tried to douse the flames were injured. Both spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to reporters.

No officials could be reached at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport.

The fire comes two weeks after legislators condemned safety standards at Kaduna International Airport, which is being used as an alternative during a six-week closure of the airport in Nigeria's capital, Abuja, for runway repairs.
