LILONGWE, Malawi - Madonna left Malawi on Monday after a visit that included meetings with the president and the biological father of one of her adopted children.

Sarah Ezzy, director of the U.S. pop star's charity Raising Malawi, confirmed Madonna's departure on her private jet.

Madonna has been visiting Malawi since 2006. She funds a number of orphanages and schools in the country. On Thursday, she helped open a new 50-bed pediatrics ward in the commercial capital, Blantyre, that she helped fund.

On this visit, Madonna met President Peter Mutharika as well as Yohane Banda, the father of her adopted son, 9-year-old David Banda. Madonna has another Malawi-born child, Mercy Chifundo James.
