The newest patient at the B.C. Wildlife Park in Kamloops is a very young raccoon named Simon.

The raccoon kit was admitted to the Fawcett Family Wildlife Health Centre at the wildlife park after being found orphaned in Kelowna area, according to a Facebook post today, June 16, by the wildlife park.

"Upon admittance his eyes were still closed and it was estimated that he was approximately three weeks old, weighing just 330 grams," the park said in the post.

Initially, Simon required 24-hour care with bottle feedings every two hours.

Socialization is integral to their development so stuffed animals are kept with him for him to interact with.

"Eventually, once he is strong and independent enough, he will be slowly introduced to Chester and Beatrice, the (wildlife) park’s resident raccoons," the post read.
