Adams Lake boater injured stopping boat theft

A man is suffering from serious injuries after he was dragged while trying to prevent his boat from being stolen from the Adams Lake boat launch on the weekend.

The boat was parked near a boat launch for the lake July 6, when two men tried to steal it. The owner attempted to stop the theft, resulting in the owner being dragged several metres and injuring him seriously.

“The suspects weren’t able to leave with the boat, and RCMP hope witnesses will come forward,” Cpl. James Grandy, BC RCMP spokesperson, said in a news release.

Police believe the suspects are associated with an older blue grey Ford truck with a flat deck and wood paneling.

“Given the suspect’s vehicle was unique and had been parked at the Adams Lake boat launch on a busy day, we’re hoping someone may have seen it,” Grandy said.

If you have any information about this incident, you’re encouraged to contact Cpl. Kyle Camalush at the Barriere RCMP at (250) 672-9918.
