Adam Wilson is in the running to be BC United’s candidate for Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream for the 2024 elections, moving from behind the scenes of political campaigns to step out front.

Wilson is a Kelowna native who has experience in urban planning, the pharmaceutical industry as well as the political scene. More recently, Wilson has worked as the campaign manager for Kelowna mayor, Tom Dyas, he is the government relations director for a national pharmacy association, and he’s associated himself with the Conservative Party of Canada and was president of the Conservative Students’ Association during his time at McGill University.

More importantly, Adam Wilson believes he is the best option the party has to be their candidate because he is conservative, he has the energy to put in the work, he is actively involved in the community and he has relevant experience.

“At the end of the day we have a lot of issues that we are facing as a riding and as a community and if we are looking to solve these issues we need to look for new ideas and innovation and it’s going to come from new people," he said.

Indeed, Wilson’s platform, if elected, would be to address the cost of living, the housing crisis, high criminality rates and labour issues in healthcare.

“At the end of the day, we have a staffing crisis, and we have people that are ready and able to work,” he says of 9% of healthcare employees throughout the province who were laid off during the pandemic and who Wilson says should be hired back.

“It’s been clear from my time speaking to residents that they’re ready for a common-sense conservative vision for our community, and I believe they will have a clear choice to make in this nomination election,” he says.

The party hasn't yet set a date for the nomination but as many as a dozen candidates are expected to be in the running.

The NDP hasn't made any candidate nomination information available and does not yet have a candidate.

The elections will take place on or before Oct. 19, 2024.
