PENTICTON - Penticton RCMP have arrested a man following his failure to appear in Penticton court yesterday.

A warrant was issued for Sylvain Demers after he missed his court date yesterday, Dec. 12.

Demers faces a charge of manslaughter in the death of Randall Toews on April 26, 2017. Toews was shot and killed at a townhouse complex on Creston Avenue in Penticton.

Penticton RCMP spokesperson Const. James Grandy says in an emailed statement Demers was arrested this morning after members of the detachment’s Targeted Enforcement Unit attended a Penticton address.

Grandy says Demers was apprehended without incident and is expected to appear in court today.
