KAMLOOPS - A driver is in hospital after a single-vehicle accident in Valleyview last night.
According to a press release from the Independent Investigation Office of B.C., an RCMP officer spotted a speeding motorcycle traveling westbound on Highway 1 in Kamloops on May 18 at around 8:42 p.m. The officer pulled the motorcycle over. As the officer exited his vehicle, the male driver sped off.
The driver hit a centre median and went into oncoming traffic
Kamloops Fire Rescue Acting Platoon Captain Dale Greffard confirms that RCMP and fire crews responded to the accident at 8:43 p.m. Highway 1 near Valleyview. The driver of a motorcycle was found injured at the scene.
Crews blocked traffic and attended to the driver, who was eventually transported to Royal Inland Hospital. After several hours, the highway was reopened to traffic.
