Accident closes Highway 33, power cut to 470 homes

A section of Highway 33 was closed Jan. 23, 2015 when a tractor trailer went off the road near Daves Road.

KELOWNA - The section of Highway 33 between Goudie and Cardinal Creek Roads is closed while emergency crews take care of the scene of a tractor-trailer rollover.

The accident happened at roughly 11 a.m. It appears the vehicle was travelling east in the direction of Big White Ski Resort. No other vehicles were involved, though a power pole was struck and wires are down. Fortis B.C. is there to assess the damage.

Kelowna RCMP says the road will remain closed while crews repair lines. Estimated time of opening is 7 p.m.

The cause of the crash has not yet been released.

Fortis B.C. says 470 customers in the Joe Rich area were without power from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Eastbound drivers should take Goudie Rd. and westbound traffic Cardinal Creek Rd.
