Three-year-old Elijah Nyhus is being reunited with his mother after his father brought him to the Wetaskiwin RCMP station in Alberta at 10:30 p.m. last night, Dec. 27, and turned himself in.
Police put out an appeal earlier that day asking the public for help in locating Elijah and his father, Malin Anthony Nyhus, after the boy was not taken back to his mother on Christmas Eve as required by a court order.
It was thought, at the time, that the father might be taking his son to southern Alberta or into B.C. They had last been seen in Red Deer.

"Elijah was turned over to the RCMP unharmed and is to be reunited with his mother," a news release from the RCMP issued today states. “Alberta RCMP would like to thank Albertans, the media and our partners in law enforcement for their assistance in this matter.”
Malin Nyhas, who is facing charges including abduction, is being held in custody pending a judicial interim release hearing.
