Ever since he was young Vernon's Asana Das has always felt a draw toward creating art, and when he suffered a head injury his drive to create grew and pushed him even further.
Now in his fourth year at UBC Okanagan in Kelowna studying fine arts, Das’ art has allowed him to venture on unexplored artistic pathways.
Just over a decade ago, Das said he began having visions during meditation and painted what he saw.

“It's shifted definitely from that personal healing journey into more of a universal consciousness discussion, the discussion on what things can be found in meditation and what those visions are accompanied by,” Das told iNFOnews.ca.
“It was kind of instilled in a moment of finding a momentary sobriety at that point in my life. I had been partying lots and realized I needed to pull back and art was a thing for me then.”
Das said he creates his work to show the interconnectedness and consciousness of the universe in hopes of sharing his enlightenment with others. He said the visions are a gift that demands creation.

“It's as if I've been given a thing that is asking to be made,” Das said. “Either we take that opportunity to follow through and put it out into the world or someone else is going to do it. It's a responsibility that if I've been given inspiration to create something and bring it into the world... it's also part of my path to find a place to share that.”
While it's difficult to make art a career, he said there's nothing he would rather do.

“I feel very supported by the universe and in my community... it's like if you walk the path, the path will arrive," he said. "I feel like as soon as I paint the canvas on this journey, it really started to unfold.”
Das exhibits his art at local shows whenever he can. You can also find his art on his website here.
