KAMLOOPS - Kamloops can expect to see a mix of weather conditions this week, with an improving trend forecast for the upcoming weekend.

Environment Canada meteorologist Bobby Sekhon says the next couple of days should be "fairly dry but with persistent cloud cover," with the sunshine returning on Thursday prior to a weak cold front expected to bring showers and gusty winds Friday.

A ridge of high pressure is expected to bring the sun back on Saturday, Sekhon says.

The forecast for today, Oct. 9, calls for a mainly cloudy day with a 40 per cent chance of showers and the wind becoming west 30 km/h near noon. The snow level is expected to drop to 1400 metres. The predicted high of 12 Celsius today is three degrees lower than normal for this time of year.

Tomorrow expect conditions to improve slightly with a mix of sun and cloud, the wind west at 20 km/h through the afternoon with a high of 12 C.

Thursday is expected to be sunny with a high of 13 C, with clouds moving into the city in the evening.

Friday could see a 40 per cent chance of showers and a high of 12 C, before a clearing trend begins in time for the weekend on Saturday.

Normal temperatures at this time of year in Kamloops are highs of 15 C and lows of 4 C.
