KELOWNA - A little smoke doesn’t matter much to Donna Klassen, coordinator for Arts on the Avenue.

“It was like this last year and we had 5,000 people,” said Klassen of the event which sees two blocks of Bernard Avenue shut down as a venue for 64 artists.

In its fourth year, Arts on the Avenue has proven a summer magnet for artists of every stripe, who set up shop right on the street.

“We’ve got it all from glassblowers to painters who are painting right there on the spot,” Klassen said.

Klassen is a paid Festival Kelowna employee but she oversees a crew of volunteers who help stage the event.

The event is free to the public and runs from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. tonight, July 26.
