KELOWNA - A million dollars isn’t a bad birthday surprise.

David McLeod from Kelowna found that out last month after a ticket he bought won $1,000,000 in the Lotto 6/49, according to a press release. The draw date? May 17, his birthday.

“It was a great birthday present,” McLeod says in the release. “I texted the picture of the validation slip to my wife to confirm what I was seeing.”

As for what he’s going to do with the money, it’s the practical things first.

“I’m going to pay off my mortgage first,” McLeod says in the release. “Then I’m going to donate to the Rotary and help out my kids with university.”

He bought the Lotto 6/49 ticket in Dawson Creek at the Safeway Gas Bar.
