A chance of thunderstorms in Kamloops before the start of a hot weekend

KAMLOOPS - There's a good chance we'll get some rain and thunderstorms in Kamloops this afternoon, with sunshine and hot temperatures in the forecast for the weekend.
Environment Canada is calling for a mix of sun and cloud in Kamloops today, Aug. 24, with a 60 per cent chance of showers or thunderstorms. The wind will be southwest at 20 km/h gusting to 40, except near thunderstorms when the wind could gust up to 80 km/h. The wind will becoming northwest at 30 km/h gust to 60 this afternoon with a high of 24 Celsius.
A special weather statement has been issued by Environment Canada because of the strong winds expected with the cold front.
The storm will blow over tonight, with a partly cloudy sky and a 30 per cent chance of some rain this evening. The wind is expected to become light overnight, with a low of 9 C.
The clouds are not expected to linger long because tomorrow's forecast calls for a mainly sunny day with a high of 26 C. That night, clear skies are predicted with a low of 10 C.
The weekend is expected to be sunny and hot, according to the weather office. Temperatures are likely to reach the low 30s.
Saturday we are looking for a high of 29 C and a high of 32 C is possible on Sunday.
Normal temperatures for this time of year are highs of 27 C and lows of 12 C.
