KELOWNA - We know that celebrating the women in your life is a big deal and there are a lot of options out there this Mother’s Day weekend.
To help you sort through all the options, we've compiled a list of five surefire ways to enjoy the weekend ahead.
Can you think of anything more picturesque than sitting in a garden, listening to music, sipping wine and painting? Mother's Day Painting Party at Intrigue Wines, 2291 Goldie Rd. in Lake Country from noon to 4:30 p.m. Join local artist Leanne Spanza and musician Jeff Piatelli for an afternoon of art and music, paired with, of course, wine. All for $70. More information and reservations on their website.
Sticking with the painting theme, try the Mother's Day Bouquet of Flowers Acrylic Workshop with Shannon Wilson at The Vibrant Vine, 3240 Pooley Rd. in East Kelowna from 3 to 5 p.m. For $45 you will receive step by step lessons, a glass of wine and all the art supplies you will need. For more information or to register, go to their website.
Go old school and take mom for high tea — there are a couple to choose from and both require dusting off your tea wardrobes. Quail’s Gate Winery at 3303 Boucherie Road in West Kelowna offers two seatings (noon and 3 p.m.) for $59 per person while Lindon House at 1449 Ethel St. in Kelowna offers seatings at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. for $50 each.
For the more athletic, there is the Kelowna Run for Women at Stuart Park, 1430 Water St. in downtown Kelowna. Hosted by the Canadian Mental Health Association it goes from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. for a cost of $25 or $50.
Or celebrate Viking battles, pipers, live music, kids’ activities and more at the Fintry Mother's Day Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fintry Provincial Park off Westside Road. Admission is only $5.
BONUS
Take mother to the Kelowna Farmers’ and Crafters’ Market Gift Bag Contest Giveaway. There is entertainment, games, tea tasting and mini bites from 10 a.m. until they’re gone.
