KELOWNA - 2017 marks the 40th anniversary of Kelowna Regional Transit and the launch of a year-long promotional campaign to recognize the role transit plays in our community and to build on the advancements of transit in our community.
“It is an exciting year ahead for the Kelowna Regional Transit system,” said Jerry Dombowsky, Transit and Programs Manager at the City of Kelowna.
An interactive transit timeline can be found at www.kelownaregionaltransittimeline.ca, outlining the various service and infrastructure milestones of the local transit system in the past 40 years.
“We’ve created a transit trivia game that people can follow on the City’s Facebook page,” Dombowsky said. The trivia questions will be posted on the City’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/CityofKelowna. All of the answers to the transit trivia questions can be found on the transit timeline.
“We’ll be giving away transit-related prizes, as well as hosting transit open houses so that people can learn about the many pass programs, discounts and options available to them.”
The campaign will share interesting facts about the history of transit in Kelowna and the province.
Riders can follow the transit promotional posts on the City’s Facebook channel, check out the new interactive timeline on www.kelownaregionaltransittimeline.ca, and learn about transit fare products and programs at bctransit.com/Kelowna.
