Interior Health began reporting school exposures again starting Sept. 28. In the Interior Health authority, 51 schools had potential exposures within the last two weeks.

Interior Health is reporting five potential exposures in the Vernon school district, 11 in the Central Okanagan school district, one in the Okanagan Skaha school district, 11 in the Kamloops Thompson school district, five in School District No. 83 in the North Okanagan Shuswap and four in Okanagan and Shuswap independent schools.

When a school staff member or student tests positive for COVID-19, public health will notify staff and students who need to take a specific action, such as self-monitoring or isolation, as a result of a COVID-19 exposure.

Kamloops has the highest number of COVID-19 cases within the region, with 131 reported between Oct. 24 to 30. The Central Okanagan has the second-highest number of cases with 121. Vernon has the third-highest number at 66 cases.

These numbers show a slight drop in cases from the previous week, where 145 cases were reported in Kamloops, 157 were in the Central Okanagan and 69 cases were reported in Vernon.

The full list of school exposures can be found on Interior Health’s website.
