Roughly 25,000 ICBC rebates have been issued since March as part of the province's campaign to help out drivers amid high gas prices.

“We've issued all 25,000 rebates to customers who signed up for direct deposit," ICBC spokesperson Lindsay Wilkins said in an emailed statement, June 10.

ICBC has also issued credit card rebates to 573,000 eligible customers.

All other customers who paid by debt, cash, cheque or payment plan — or those whose credit cards couldn’t be processed — will receive their rebates starting next week, Wilkins said.

The province announced in March that ICBC would provide a one-time insurance rebate of $110 to drivers, and $165 to commercial drivers, to ease the financial burden of rising gas prices.

The province plans to issue roughly 3.5 million rebates, meaning more than half of British Columbians will receive a cheque.

ICBC is also warning drivers to be aware that rebates will not be issued via text message or email. Text messages or emails offering a link to rebates are a scam.
