There were 25 additional people, including one in the Interior Health region, who tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

That brings the total in the Interior Health region to 202 with 3,053 in the province, according to a joint statement released today, July 10, by health minister Adrian Dix and provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry.

There was also one additional death so 187 people have now died in B.C. from COVID-19, while 2,679 have recovered.

There are 187 active cases with 16 people in hospital, five of whom are in intensive care.

The cases include 990 in the Vancouver Coastal region, 1,610 in Fraser Health, 135 on Vancouver Island, 65 in the north and 51 non-residents.

The ministry said while there are no active community outbreaks, there are new cases and "exposure events continue to occur in the community."

"As we continue through summer, simple steps will help us to keep COVID-19 low and slow in British Columbia,” the release states.

"When spending more time with friends and family, whether that is close to home or on vacation elsewhere in the province, we remind all British Columbians to avoid closed spaces, crowds and close contact with others.”
