24-hour vet hospital to open in Kamloops

A new Kamloops animal hospital is expected to open its doors next month.

Phases Emergency Veterinary Hospital will be the city's only dedicated 24-hour facility once it opens in February.

In the spring of 2022, doctors Adrian Helmers and Megan Broschak started planning and fundraising for the facility, while continuing to operate the Neighbourhood Veterinary Hospital.

The February opening of the new vet clinic at 1350 Summit Dr. was announced on social media Tuesday, Jan. 2.

Although it will be the only dedicated facility, multiple local clinics currently rotate an on-call schedule so after-hours service changes nightly. It's not clear how the new animal hospital will affect the on-call service.
