1,984 new COVID cases in B.C. over the weekend; 9 more deaths

In the past three days, there were 1,984 new COVID-19 cases in B.C., including 542 in the Interior Health region.

There were 823 new cases in B.C. from Friday to Saturday, 641 from Saturday to Sunday and 520 in the past 24 hours, according to a Ministry of Health news release issued today, Sept. 13.

The release doesn’t break down the daily cases in each region but the 542 in Interior Health averages 181 per day.

There were 609 new cases in the Fraser Health region, 319 in Vancouver Coastal, 220 on Vancouver Island and 294 in the Northern Health region.

Nine more people died over the weekend, including three in the Interior Health region. That brings the provincial total to 1,865.

There are 1,618 active cases in Interior Health out of 5,825 across the province. There are 278 people in hospital, of which 139 are in intensive care.

The vaccination rate has reached 85.8% of people over the age of 12 with 78.4% having received their second doses.
