185 hectare wildfire burning southwest of Merritt

A wildfire burning roughly 45 kilometres southwest of Merritt is mapped at 185 hectares.

The July Mountain fire is out of control and 0% contained, west of Highway 5, according to the service. It has grown since its discovery July 13.

The Thompson-Nicola Regional District has issued an evacuation alert for 25 properties in electoral area N. For more information, visit the regional district’s website.

The fire is suspected to be caused by lighting and one helicopter is on scene today.
