There were 155 new COVID-19 cases in B.C. in the last 24 hours, including three in the Interior Health region.

The high numbers of new cases come at the same time as people are heading to advance polls leading for the Oct. 24 provincial election.

"If you are planning on voting in person, remember to give others the space to stay safe when going to vote, wash your hands before and after voting, and consider using a mask if distancing is a challenge,” says a joint statement issued today, Oct. 16, by Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and the Ministry of Health.

Advance polling continues through Oct. 21.

The 155 new cases bring the total in B.C. since January to 11,189 and 590 in the Interior Health region.

There has also been one new death, bringing that total to 251.
