  • Sanitary main replacement to temporarily close rivers trail access

    Kamloops, BC – Construction is starting near Kamloops Airport to replace the aging sanitary gravity main that services all Kamloops residents north of the Thompson River. This essential upgrade will begin at the North Primary Lift Station on Aviation Way and will result in the full closure of Aviation Way.
  • YLW Master Plan guides the way to 2045

    On Nov. 21, the final Kelowna International Airport (YLW) Master Plan 2045 was approved and adopted by Kelowna City Council.

    In March 2015, YLW engaged SNC-Lavalin and its consultants to update the existing Master Plan 2025. The integrated team developed the new Master Plan 2045 in support of YLW’s vision to become the best mid-sized airport in North America.
  • Carson Air touches down with second major donation to Okanagan College

    KELOWNA - Carson Air has donated a Metroliner II aircraft to the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering M-License program; the company estimates the value of the aircraft at approximately $300,000. The aircraft landed at the Vernon Airport on Oct. 16 welcomed by students, instructors, and Okanagan College employees outside the College’s Aerospace hangar adjacent to the runway.

  • City of Vernon developing new Airport Master Plan

    VERNON - The City of Vernon is in the process of crafting a new Airport Master Plan in collaboration with local stakeholders and residents that will provide direction for the future development of the Vernon Regional Airport over the next 20 years. The draft of the Airport Master Plan is expected to be complete in September of this year, and the final plan is expected to be ready in June 2016.
  • College grad takes advice from local entrepreneur, lands first big job

    Okanagan College will be recognizing the achievements of more than 1,450 students who will be earning credentials from a variety of academic, vocational and trades programs throughout the course of three Convocation ceremonies in Kelowna this weekend.

    Among them will be Reid Schretlen, a graduate of the Bachelor of Business Administration’s honours program. Schretlen, like many of his classmates, struggled to make a decision about where his future would lead him after college.
