On Saturday May 10 from 9:00-10:30 am we are hosting a FREE “Understanding Map & Compass” Workshop at Monashee Outdoors.
Join us for an engaging session with Jerry Fochler, where you will distinguish between True North and Magnetic North and explore the intricacies of map symbols and details. You’ll gain hands-on experience in using a compass and understanding how maps and compasses work together. This interactive workshop is perfect for adventurers at any level. Don’t forget to bring your own compass if you have one or you can buy one here.
Instructor Jerry Fochler has 35 years of backcountry Mountain Guide experience and is a local expert in outdoor training. He is an instructor of Survival Skills, Wilderness First Aid, is a Former Search and Rescue Trainer and a Former Research Forester (B. Sc. Forestry). Jerry is the perfect guide for this hands-on map and compass workshop.
