Event Description

On Thursday, May 22 from 6:00–9:30 PM, the community is invited to gather at the Kelowna Events Centre (2041 Harvey Ave.) for an unforgettable evening of music, movement, food, and giving back. This month’s Thankful Thursday Charity & Social shines a spotlight on National Foster Care Month, with 100% of proceeds supporting the newly launched Three Musketeers Foundation.
This vibrant, heart-centered event will feature live performances by:
- Poppa Nuge, an Indigenous beatboxer bringing powerful rhythm and cultural expression
- Shalina, a soulful vocal artist known for her dynamic voice and energy
- Michael Averill, a storytelling musician creating deep lyrical connections
- Village Dance Academy, delivering an electric hip-hop dance performance
Attendees will enjoy a welcome drink and culinary delights curated by acclaimed executive chef Miriam, a Michelin star recipient, served at four interactive food stations. Both nonalcoholic and alcoholic beverage options will be available throughout the evening. Guests can also explore an artisan market, contribute to a Gratitude Wall, and connect with local creators and changemakers.
The event was inspired by sisters Reena Yost and Roxanne, who co-founded The Three Musketeers Foundation in memory of their late brother Ryan. The three siblings—who spent their early lives in foster care—called themselves the “Three Musketeers.” Ryan’s love of music, art, and self-expression lives on through this event and the foundation’s mission: to empower youth in and aging out of foster care through mindset, leadership, and life skill programs.
“Events like this bring purpose to the pain,” says Reena Yost, who is also a Kelowna-based Realtor with Oakwyn Realty and founder of the Thankful Thursday Charity & Social event series. “We want to create spaces that uplift people, celebrate community, and remind youth that they are never alone.”
2 of 2 National Foster Care Month is recognized every May to raise awareness and honour the resilience of children in care and the families who support them. It’s also a time to inspire lasting change and support for youth who are navigating life beyond the system.
