Looking for something fun for the whole family? The Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO) has got you covered with the first annual Regional Parks Expo. The expo is open to all ages and admission is free. Be inspired by nature. Celebrate the benefits of parks and our community’s love of nature. Explore booths hosted by conservation groups, learn about Regional Parks volunteer programs, and expand your knowledge of local wildlife and environment. Booth highlights include: Come meet Nora the gopher snake! On Saturday, the Okanagan Similkameen Stewardship Society will be set up in the courtyard with Nora and lots of cool info about local species. COSAR (Central Okanagan Search and Rescue) will be set up with their rescue vehicle display. Sncewips Heritage Museum will be on site. Come learn more about the histories and oral stories of the syilx people. Okanagan Science Centre will be there with activities for little scientists at heart. Learn more about the night sky with the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada. UBCO Let’s Talk Science will have hands-on experiments for participants big and small! In addition to the exhibition booths, attendees can enjoy a variety of presentations in the theatre both days. Presentations include: Friday, May 26 6:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. l Bats out of the darkness 7:15 p.m. - 7:45 p.m. l Meet the “Friends of” Regional Parks Saturday May 27 10:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. l Introduction to invasive species 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. l Connecting with syilx lands 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. l Wild creatures of the Okanagan 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. l Bats in Peachland 3:15 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. l Making the outdoors accessible But wait – there’s more! From 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. the Local Pressed Bites food truck will be on site serving up tasty treats for purchase while Nice ‘n’ Easy duo performs live.
