Event Description

Classes will be a mixture of discussions about contemporary poetry, demonstrations in writing and editing poetry (especially short and long forms), and critiquing sessions that will focus on class members’ work. There is nothing in the world quite like the density of poetry. It can be so fascinating and demanding, so exquisite. My hope is that we will create a community of poets looking out for one another and pushing ourselves toward publication. Again, this should be the ideal class for any poet who is working away in solitude and could use the support and clarity that a small community of like- minded poets can provide sometimes. I have been that kind of writer myself over these past six years: I have been writing away, working crazily in a short prose poem form I call ‘meditations,’ and a book of these meditations will be published in the spring of 2019, so the timing of this class is perfect for me because it will draw all my reading and writing together. This new book is called A Flywheel Matins.
