A night to remember: local jazz favourite Karen Wiseman and internationally acclaimed vocalist Jennifer Scott join forces for an unforgettable evening celebrating the groundbreaking works of female jazz composers – a Jazz Herstory if you will.
This unique collaborative performance promises to be a joyous exploration which honours the rich legacy of women who shaped the sound of jazz over the years. Together, these two remarkable singers will blend their voices and musicality to weave their own personal interpretations with the rich compositions of pioneering jazz composers and artists. From the timeless sounds of Billie Holiday, to the innovative spirit of Carla Bley, this evening will take the audience on a journey that spans the spectrum from the early swing era to modern jazz, from well known standards to hidden gems.
Joining Karen and Jennifer on stage will be Rene Worst on bass, Will Friesen on drums, and Chris Startup on saxophone. Don’t miss this extraordinary celebration of jazz through the lens of its remarkable female creators.
