Event Description

Chamber Music Kelowna’s next concert presents renowned Canadian violinist Kerson Leong and US pianist Jessica Osborne, in an evening of works from master composers. The concert is also CMK’s annual “In from the Cold” fundraiser for the Central Okanagan Food Bank.
Kerson Leong is “not just one of Canada’s greatest violinists but one of the greatest violinists, period” (Toronto Star). He wins over colleagues and audiences alike with “a mixture of spontaneity and mastery, elegance, fantasy, and intensity that makes his sound recognizable from the first notes” (Le Monde). His latest album release, featuring the Britten and Bruch violin concertos with London’s Philharmonia Orchestra under Patrick Hahn for Alpha Classics, received wide critical acclaim and garnered five-star recommendations from the Sunday Times and Diapason, among others.
Jessica Osborne is described by the Washington Post as having “a refreshing mellowness and poetic touch.” She has worked closely with some of the world’s finest musicians, has performed throughout the continental U.S., Europe, and Asia, and has appeared in recitals at many of the world’s most celebrated venues. The two artists will present a program which includes works by Francis Poulenc, Claude Debussy, and César Franck, and concludes with Maurice Ravel’s Tzigane.
Chamber Music Kelowna is dedicating this early-winter concert to generating support for the Central Okanagan Food Bank. Patrons are encouraged to bring a donation of cash, cheque, or non-perishable food for the Food Bank. CMK’s “In from the Cold” event is a recognition of the increased needs in our community as winter temperatures set in; concert patrons can warm up with a complimentary hot chocolate or cider as thanks for their support.
