Event Description

Join us for the first event of the 2025 Hometown Histories speaker series, featuring Dale Kermode, local historian and retired lawyer. Dale will share his research on the remarkable James Halbold Christie, a pioneer who led the Seattle Press Expedition in 1889–1890, and played a key role in advocating for Indigenous rights. Learn about Christie’s fascinating life, including his connections to the Canadian Artillery, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and Sitting Bull.
Proceeds support the Museum & Archives of Vernon and the Okanagan Historical Society.
