Event Description
First Person Arts Night Coming To Salmon Arm on Father’s Day! The Night Café Hosting First Person Arts Night on Father’s Day, June 15 All Welcome Contestant Sign-up 6:00 pm The Night Café will be hosting a First Person Arts Night on Sunday, June 15 this weekend. All are welcome! Contestants can sign-up from 6-7 pm with the competition to follow at 7:00. A First Person Arts Night is fun way to spend a night out. Marv Machura, the event host, explains: “We need to tell our stories and express ourselves.” He continues, “Contestants have 5 minutes to present their original story, poem(s), or narrative to the audience; after which, the audience votes on the performance.” “The focus is on fun,” says Machura. First Person Arts have been gaining popularity across Canada as many people rediscover the power of the spoken word and the community engagement that it creates and celebrates. He says, “Anyone can compete, beginners to old pros. The focus is on the words: no backing tracks, props, musical/percussion instruments, costumes are allowed.” Celebrate the power of the spoken word at Salmon Arm’s First Person Arts Night coming up this Father’s Day at Salmon Arm’s Night Café. Contestants sign up starts at 6:00 pm. For more information about the event, contact Marv Machura at marv@marvmachura.com or call 250-307-1505.
